| BEST CONTEST EVER?!! | ||
|
there should be a contest to find out what contest could have possibly been any better than the business that went down last night in the back room at antisocial last night. my deepest apologies to anyone who missed it. not one boring run the whole night and the line between winners and runners up was certainly a blurry one, but somehow the numbers had the team consisting of the brothers mckinlay and george faulkner on top, winning a trip to the skate destination of their choice, accompanied by myself. there was talk of NYC, but we'll see... the highlight of the night may just have been the polish drop-in. but that is a blurry line as well. i'll try and get photos up soon, but in the meantime it may work to check out rhiannon's photos here. oh yeah, and some dirty little bugger made off with my board, so if you see anyone skating a bamboo habitat with deep smith grind marks on the thunders please make sure that the marks are their own. more soon. stay posted... |

| RCRD LBL | ||
| RCRD LBL might look like another mp3 blog at first glance -- and a good one -- but they've got a whole other thing going on that's pretty new and amazing. They've struck up deals with a variety of top-notch labels (Warp, Fool's Gold, Kompakt, Modular, Dim Mak, Downtown) and artists (already too many to name) to distribute free, exclusive mp3s. I've already managed to get lost in their archives, and they're releasing new stuff at a furious rate. I can see this site becoming a big deal really fast. | ||

| HIGHER-RESOLUTION YOUTUBE VIDEOS | ||

While the project was announced last year, it appears that YouTube is taking early steps at providing higher quality videos. They have millions of videos to convert, so it might take some time. Here is an example. (notice the &fmt=6 at the end of the web address) |

|
| OH SNAP, WE'RE GIVING STUFF AWAY! | ||
|
Almost Skateboards recently added a new pro to their roster and we just so happen to have one of his new pro model decks here at Color. Here’s what Daewon Song had to say about Lewis Marnell: “Lewis Marnell is pro… It’s about time! I know… Lewis’ attitude alone towards skateboarding is amazing and his skating… well we all know. His two recent parts [Volcom/Nike] on top of past parts have been an inspiration for me as well… doesn’t mean I’ll be switch BS flipping tables on flat, well maybe in my dreams! Congratulations Lewis!” —Daewon Song Now you can win a limited edition tee (modelled by OG Color contributor Kyle Shura) when you send in the title of 1 of Lewis’ top 12 songs on his own personal mix tape. If you can name all 12 and you didn’t receive the same press release we did. And you don’t own the cd yourself… then you are seriously calling out some favors and you deserve to be sent this deck. (Only while supplies last.) |

| SUPRA PRESENTS A 4STAR CONTEST! | ||
| don't be a sucker! | ||
|
| TOURZ | ||
|
Spring comes early on the west coast, and Spring means the beginning of concert season. Atlas Sound just put out one of my favourite albums of the year so far, Let the Blind Lead Those Who See But Cannot Feel, and they're on tour right now and playing here in Vancouver March 5th (that's next wednesday) at Pat's Pub. Not only that, but they're bringing Portland drone guru White Rainbow and psych-blues goddess Honey Owens (aka Valet), who just put out a totally wicked album called Naked Acid. Both of those bands are awesome. The only thing that might possibly deter you from going is the Crystal Castles/Health show the same night at Richard's. Tough call. If you're not in Vancouver, the dates for the rest of the tour are on Atlas Sound's myspace. In other upcoming local shows, K Records post-post-punkers Mahjongg are playing in Vancouver this saturday (also at Pat's) with one of my favourite local bands, No Gold. Again, all other dates on their myspace. |
